La Maison en Pierre Customer Comments 2012
We have had a wonderful week here and are all wishing that it could have been longer. You have done an amazing job with the conversion of the 2 houses and have thought of everything, even a well equipped playroom.
Thank you for your friendly hospitality. We earnestly hope that we can return again in the future. Can’t wait to see the completed barn conversion. Warmest best wishes.
We have had a wonderful week at La Maison en Pierre. The 7 of us, including 3grandparents and 2 small children have all felt very comfortable in our stunning surroundings. Jan & Mick, you are fantastic hosts and have a special knack of making people feel very much at home. We will definitely return, given half an opportunity. Many thanks, once again.
What a wonderful week we have had! The house is absolutely gorgeous and so well equipped, it truly is a home from home (well, better than home!) The girls have made full use of the playroom, which has kept them thoroughly entertained all week and fortunately, the weather has been kind enough to allow them some time in the pool. It was really lovely to meet you both and your generous hospitality is very much appreciated. You made us all feel very welcome. We wish you all the best with your continuing renovations and would love to return at some point in the future to see the final result!
Very best wishes
We have had a wonderfully relaxing week, staying in this fabulous house. The pool, the playroom, endless grounds and the chickens have thoroughly entertained us all, so we have had no need or desire to travel far! Thank you Jan & Mick for providing us with everything we have needed this week, we have felt thoroughly spoilt!
I loved the pool and I wish I had longer. Love from Ben (age 8)
Thank you so much – we all had a wonderful time here in your lovely house.
Here is our rap: -
I thought when I was there, this is not fair
We got the best, La Maison en Pierre!!
When we came to France, we had ‘bonne chance’
So we did a little dance – we’ll be back, France!!

We had a fantastic week in your sublime idyll. You’ve created a memorable holiday retreat, packed to the rafters with interesting and suitable entertainment for young & old. We will remember with fondness our daughter's delight collecting the eggs from the hens and feeding them, playing in the pool, rummaging through the playroom and picking the ripe courgettes. Many thanks for a memorable holiday.
This is the most wonderful holiday that we have had. Thank you so much for your incredible hospitality. The amazing grounds along with the pool have added to all the ingredients of a perfect holiday. We very much hope that we will be returning next year. Merci beaucoup
It has been lovely staying at Le Maison en Pierre. I absolutely love the chickens and the pool. It has been lovely to have had your company. Thank you for letting us stay here.
Thank you verry verry mutch for letting us stay.
Thank you again, and we’ll see you next year!
Jay’s favourites, this time (apart from the playroom & the pool) have been: The beach and the ‘gentle sea’ at La Tranche, the spider monkeys at the zoo at Les Sables and at La Rochelle aquarium, he decided he’s like a shark!! Luckily, 3 euro’s at the gift shop!
His parents enjoyed all of the above, but also the lakeside view and good food at La Morlière (restaurant in Sigournais) and your tomatoes!
We have had a wonderful two weeks in La Maison en Pierre. The house is very spacious and comfortable and the outdoor space is immense. The children have enjoyed the freedom to roam and have loved the chickens, the pool & the games room.
It’s very sad that we now have to return home and to everyday life. Many thanks
Day 1. Delayed start to our trip, due to our fay at the Olympics – a fantastic experience, but immensely tiring. After our usual stop at Rouen overnight, we arrived in St, Juire. As always, Mick & Jan were on hand to provide a warm welcome and tea for Becs, juice & biscuits for the children and a glass of beer for me!!
Day 2. Glorious sunshine. Stayed by the pool most of the day with Zac & Sebastian scooting around the garden on their mountain bikes, whilst Scarlett, Becs & I dipped in and out of the pool. Trip to the local supermarket provided all we needed to top up the fresh eggs & veg provided by Jan.
Day 3. Day trip to Fontenay-Le-Comte. Nice & close with some interesting buildings, churches, river through it, but it has seen better days. Supper in local pizzeria (family run) was very good on the main street. Home for a late dip and then bed after a few beers with the family next door.
Day 4. Boys cycled to Ste. Hermine and then Feole – picked up fresh bread & pastries from the boulangerie. Rest of the day by the pool.
Day 5 Day trip to Niort. Not too far and lovely old town. Great castle, churches and park (by the river). Some good shopping & good restaurants. *Recommended.
Day 6. Final day by the pool with temperature of 34 degrees. Raspberry, blackberry picking, egg collecting, apple scrumpying, cycling, swimming, idling, BBQing, and drinking far too much wine – Wonderful!! Thank you Jan & Mick for another week of rural French heaven – we have loved it. xxx
