Spring Daffodils at La Maison en Pierre
The Austins, The Everinghams and The Greens. (Written by Daisy - 13 (nearly 14) from Essex) February 2013

We have all had an amazing time in La Maison en Pierre! The grounds are amazing (me & Rowan enjoyed many games of tennis). The house was very cosy and the amazing fire was put to good use. Thank you for your lovely
hospitality. See you soon.
Dave, Lorraine, Ryan & Iris. May 2013
Thank you very much for our enjoyable stay. Ryan loved the play room and he had all the toys he needed for an enjoyable stay.
The house was like staying home from home, with all the facilities. It was really well equipped with everything. Ryan loved feeding the chickens and the donkey. The village was really beautiful.
Visited La Tranche, Fontenay-le-Comte - beautiful gardens, La Rochelle is well worth a visit. We would recommend to stay in this property.
The Paxford & Starnes Families - Hampshire. May 2013
We had a fab time, here at La Maison en Pierre. Shame the weather was not so fab for us, apart from the 2nd day & the last. Don’t know if we’ll ever get used to restaurants not always being open in the evenings- always ring first! The Auberge at Bazoges en Pareds was good.
We enjoyed the facilities and the house was just right for all 8 of us. Thank you Jan & Mick for helping us to eat (well finding somewhere that was open)
The Warren Family - Hampshire. May 2013
Thank you for making us feel so welcome to your home. We loved La Vieille Maison. Despite the weather, it was lovely to come back from a day out to a warm & cosy gite. The boys had a great time in the playroom, feeding the chickens, playing in the pool, out on the bikes, visiting the donkeys in the village; the freedom to run and kick a ball and then relax with a DVD in the evening.
We loved the beach where we collected real fossils in stones to take home, and ‘surfing’ the sand dunes!!
Puy de Fou was amazing, watching the shows outside – however, we did get a bit wet as it rained all day!! The birds were brilliant, an experience we will never forget!!
Thank you again and hope to be back soon….

We heard that this place was amazing before we arrived, but we didn’t realise just how amazing it would be!
Firstly we would like to thank you for your warm welcome, summed up by the cherry liqueurs & real ales on our first night. Your beautiful property has easily catered for the needs of two young families. The children really enjoyed playing in the toy room, learning to splash in the pool, feeding the chickens, picking the organic fruit & veg from the garden… and Freddie especially loved sitting on the tractor!
Our favourite time of the day was sitting in the courtyard when the kids had gone to bed, enjoying a glass of wine and the French cuisine.
For other guests reading this, the local restaurant is a must - 3 courses, including wine & coffee for 12 euro, but like eating in a Michelin star restaurant!! (Lunchtime only.) The zoo at Mervent is great for the kids and La Rochelle is beautiful!
The Hunt and Fenton Families - Wales, Manchester & Canada. July 2013
What an amazing place. We all loved staying here and really do not want to go away, as each day the sun shone and the whole family enjoyed the pool and garden with odd moments of respite in the cooler and beautifully tranquil house. All four grandchildren made huge strides with their swimming. The four children got on amazingly well too – a testament to just how right you have got everything. Many thanks for your hospitality and the ‘extra miles’ you go to welcome your guests.
The Rust Family - Surrey. July 2013
2 grandparents, 3 children and spouses and 6 grandchildren! We stayed in both the farm house and the cottage, and a brilliant time was had by all. We all thought that the houses were of a very high standard and that Mick & Jan made us feel at home, as soon as we arrived.

The house & grounds you have here are wonderful. You have made us feel very welcome and we have very much enjoyed our stay. The house is amazing - well equipped and very safe for our little one who is just one year old; with stair gates, high chairs, toys, plastic plates etc…. You really have thought of everything for everyone. The girls enjoyed collecting eggs & picking fruit. Thank you. We hope to return again.

We had a fantastic time here, especially in the swimming pool. Isabella loved feeding Bill, Mimi, Pheobe & Ging, and she thought that the eggs were the best!
Thank you very much for all the fruit & veg that you let us have because you put so much work into them.
Thanks again for everything – Play room was great! Hannah (10), Isabella (3) & William (1)

Thank you, for the third consecutive year, for looking after us so well!!
We had a lovely time (Ile de Ré, Puy de Fou, Bourgenay, etc) and lovely weather, over all, too this year. As ever, Jay has loved it (the pool, the playroom and chatting to you both - and Rosie the cat). See you next year!

Three generations of one family have had an amazing holiday in your fabulous house. Thank you so much for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. Your hospitality has been brilliant and you have made us truly welcome in your home.
The children really enjoyed the gardens, feeding the chickens & collecting eggs, chasing bugs & butterflies and picking ripe fruit & vegetables for dinner. Of course, the pool has been a great hit with all of them and Julia (age 6) learnt to swim confidently during her 2 weeks here. The adults thoroughly enjoyed sampling your home-made aperitifs. The older boys really enjoyed Acrobranch at Mervent and we also had a very enjoyable day at Chateau Tiffauges.
Thank you so much, love & best wishes for the future.
Clare, Neil, Emily & Eva, Ashford. August 2013
Thank you for making us feel so welcome (and for the drinks!) You have created an idyllic place here with everything families need, and more. We especially loved just relaxing by the pool. The hammock was a big hit with Neil and it was so lovely to see Emily collecting eggs from the chickens and picking fresh fruit & veg from the garden. Eva loved the slide(even if she did climb up the wrong way!) The monkey!! We had a wonderful evening at the St Georges restaurant, just 5 mins walk from the house and amazing food. Already booked for next year and can’t wait!! See you then.

What a lovely house and location. Where can we start with our thank-yous?
The pool was wonderful.....The rooms were wonderful........The garden was wonderful...........The fruit & vegetables were lovely...........The location was excellent for relaxing and close to the beaches. In all, we couldn’t have found a better place to spend our 40th wedding anniversary, en famille!

David, Roslynn, Abigail & Christopher. Gloucester, August 2013
What a fantastic stay we have had at La Maison en Pierre! There is nothing you haven’t thought of to make the place perfect. The playroom was a real hit with our 2 little explorers, as were the chickens and the veggie patch. It was the swimming pool though, that really won them over; Abigal completing her first ever length of a pool and Christopher converting from waterphobe to waterbaby! Thank you for your superb hospitality, especially, the delicious liqueurs (raspberry was the winner for us!) Truly stunning! We will see you again soon, I am sure.

Abigail (3) August 2013
Thank you for my holiday. I really liked the swimming pool and the swings and the slide and the chickens and the playroom and the sleigh beds and the beach and the pirate adventures and collecting the vegetables and the pain au chocolat and meeting my friend Emily.
Lesley & Izzy Coombes and Anthony & Phoebe, Guildford - September 2013
We have all really enjoyed our 2 weeks here. Simple highlights were the hummingbird moths, lizards basking in the sun on the stonework, bat watching in the evenings, the shooting stars, the chickens and collecting eggs – all on your doorstep!! Not to mention the pool and your relaxed generosity. Best gite we have been to in 8/9 years of visiting France. We hope that the rest of the work on the barn conversion goes well. Hope to see you next year.

The Fiddies & Blands. The Wirral, October 2013
Wonderful 2 weeks for three generations to relax together. Everything for a ‘home from home’ holiday was supplied, even heating for cold evenings. The weather was a little disappointing, but beyond anyone’s control. We recommend a visit to La Rochelle aquarium for all ages to spend a wet day enjoyably. Lunch with locals near the market hall made this day extra special. Don’t miss the local restaurant in St Juire for a great lunch; Clisson is worth a visit on market day. Despite the inclement weather, the pool was great for a swim. As for the little ones, this place is great!! What a fantastic playroom! Ted (our 22 month son) loved chasing and ‘cuddling’ Rosie the cat and searching for the ‘chick chicks’ when they were roaming the garden. He also loved sliding on the ‘weeeeeee’ and paddling in the pool. Thank you Jan & Mick for a fantastic holiday.

We normally love to return home after a holiday, but not this time. The house felt like a home and that was wonderful. It had everything you could wish for or need. The playroom was amazing for the kids and for us. The pictures on the website don’t do enough for it. Thanks for your hospitality, your help and the eggs. We really do wish you every bit of luck in the future.
